1. Who we are
getsplain is operated by Abelardo Marco S. Victoria Jr., Metro Manila, Philippines. In these Terms, "getsplain", "we" and "us" mean the operator. Contact: hello@getsplain.com (also reachable at getsplain@gmail.com).
2. Who can use getsplain
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The people you teach ("splainees") do not sign up; they learn with you.
- If you use getsplain for a school or organisation, you confirm you're allowed to accept these Terms for it.
- You must give accurate sign-up details and keep access to your email secure. Log-in works through one-time codes sent to your email.
3. What getsplain does
getsplain generates lesson explanations, analogies, activity tips and (on Plus) printable quizzes using third-party artificial intelligence ("AI") services. Lessons are generated automatically and can contain mistakes.
4. Your responsibilities as the adult
- Review every lesson before teaching it and adapt it to your splainee. You decide what is appropriate for the splainees in your care.
- Supervise your splainee's use of anything you create with getsplain.
- Don't type your splainee's full name, address, school name, photos, health details or other identifying information into lesson fields. A first name or "my son" is plenty.
- getsplain is a teaching aid. It is not medical, psychological, legal or professional advice.
5. Safety features (not an emergency service)
getsplain checks lesson requests and AI outputs for signs that a splainee may be in danger or distress. If something concerning comes up, we pause the lesson, show support information for your country, and may send a gentle email to the account holder. These features can miss things or be triggered by mistake. getsplain is not a crisis, monitoring or emergency service. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number (911 in the Philippines).
6. Acceptable use
Don't use getsplain to: create sexual, violent, hateful or harmful content; attempt to get instructions for weapons, drugs, self-harm or other dangerous acts; harass anyone; break the law; scrape, overload, reverse-engineer or get around limits or safety features; share or sell access codes; or impersonate others. We may refuse requests, remove content, or suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Plans, payments, refunds and invite codes
- Free: guests can make 1 free lesson without an account. New accounts get 3 welcome lessons (2 if a guest lesson was already used in that browser, which is then saved to the new account), then 1 free lesson per rolling 24 hours. Free lessons use 1 age group, 1 topic and 1 interest per lesson. We may change free limits with notice.
- getsplain Plus: ₱799 per month. Unlimited for normal use, with a fair-use limit of 30 lessons per 24 hours. Plus also unlocks all age groups, up to 3 topics and 3 interests per lesson, and printable quizzes.
- Paying for Plus: payment is currently by GCash, Maya or bank transfer, with an uploaded proof of payment. We activate Plus after we verify your payment (usually within 24 hours). Each payment gives you 30 days of Plus. Plus does not auto-renew; to renew, simply pay again.
- Coupons such as CFA20 can be used once per account and may change or end.
- Refunds: if your payment can't be verified or we can't activate Plus, we refund you in full. Otherwise, you can ask for a refund within 7 days of activation if you've used 3 or fewer Plus lessons: email hello@getsplain.com. Refunds go back by the same payment method within 7 business days.
- Invite codes may unlock paid features for testing. They are personal, can be withdrawn, and have no cash value.
8. Your content and our content
- You keep ownership of what you type ("inputs"). You give us permission to process inputs to run, secure and improve getsplain, including sending them to our AI providers as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You may use generated lessons and quizzes for personal, family, homeschool and classroom teaching, including sharing them with your splainees. Please don't resell them as a product.
- The getsplain name, logo, design and software belong to the operator of getsplain.
9. Availability and changes
getsplain is in early access. Features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these Terms; if changes are significant we'll notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
10. Ending your account
You can stop using getsplain and ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, after a warning where reasonable.
11. Disclaimers and liability
getsplain is provided "as is". To the extent allowed by Philippine law, we don't guarantee that lessons are accurate, complete or suitable for a particular splainee, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made based on generated content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including under the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394).
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Disputes go to the proper courts of Metro Manila, Philippines, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer.
